Photo Museum Ireland announces the appointment of two new members to their education team who will be joining the museum to deliver the first year of their new education plan – Ben Malcolmson as new Curator of Education and Jilly McGrath as Education Coordinator.
“This exciting development is thanks to funding from the Heritage Council’s Organisation Support Fund. We are delighted to bring enhanced skills & new perspectives to our work. The recruitment of a learning and engagement team is an exciting new development for us. It enables us to connect with new, diverse audiences through an expanded educational and access programme and realise our vision of great photography for everyone”
With Ben and Jilly’s contributions, we look forward to offering a broader range of educational opportunities, deepening our impact on the community, and furthering our commitment to making photography a part of everyone’s life. Their work will be instrumental in delivering innovative programs that foster greater public engagement and support our mission of photography for all.
Ben Malcolmson,
Education Curator
Ben Malcolmson works within the parameters of photography, video and sculpture exploring alternative photographic processes with relation to one’s land and identity. Ben has most recently worked on the ‘Shared Histories – Diverse Views’ cross-border initiative with Photo Museum Ireland.
Jilly McGrath,
Education Co-ordinator
Jilly McGrath is a multidisciplinary artist based in Dublin. With a rich background in visual arts, she recently attained her MA in Photojournalism and Documentary Photography from the University of the Arts London. Her academic journey culminated in a capstone project centered on the intersection of creativity and crisis response, a theme that continues to resonate deeply in her work. As a member of Gift Horse Theatre, an environmentally conscious theatre company, she further explores the realms of storytelling and adaptation, weaving together narratives that resonate with audiences on a personal level and in the broader social context. Jilly looks forward to expanding and developing the education programme of the Photo Museum Ireland. Bringing her enthusiasm and experience to this new role, she hopes to aid in creating a space that allows for exploration and learning.
