Your DSLR camera.
Yes, this is not a basics workshop, knowledge of your DSLR camera is essential.
A good portrait does not limit reality to its visible and material aspects, but on the contrary, it gives predominant significance to the invisible, to the sacred. Seán Jackson
Join us for a three evening (25th February, 4th & 11th March 2025) journey to develop your confidence in experimenting with studio lighting. This is a foundational level lighting course for photographers with little to no studio lighting experience. Working knowledge of your digital SLR camera is essential and ideally you will have completed the natural light workshop.
On each of the first two evenings we will work with a different lighting set up, constructing a set together and creating imagery within the studio variations.
We will look at lighting references and work towards creating original imagery while lending components from other photographers work as communication points.
On the third evening, each participant will work with a model of their choice and their chosen lighting style to bring a vision to life for their portfolio. They will consider styling, composition, direction as well as lighting to create a considered and well executed image.
What will I learn?
How to create a studio set up
Develop your confidence in experimenting with studio lighting
Create imagery within the studio variations.
Learn how to consider styling, composition, direction to bring an image to life
How to prepare your equipment, model and collaborators before a shoot
Questions?
