For ages 8 – 12 years.

The workshop will begin with an outdoor photography activity, where participants, along with their guardian or parent, will explore the Photo Museum’s unique architecture, designed to resemble a camera, capturing its striking features from various angles using smartphone photography. The session will focus on framing, light, and perspective as they photograph the building.

Afterwards, the group will move inside, where they will print their images and create their own photo collages. Using found images and their own photographs, they will experiment with layout and design, crafting their own personal photo collages inspired by the museum’s architecture and photographic history.

The session will end with a small digital exhibition of the collages, allowing the children to share their creative work and reflect on their exploration of the building through photography and design. Throughout the workshop, participants will engage with both the visual and architectural elements of the Photo Museum, learning how these concepts connect to the art of photography.

Accessibility Information for Outdoor Photography Workshop:

• Venue Access: The workshop will take place outside the museum, with participants meeting near the entrance. The museum itself is fully accessible to visitors with disabilities, with no stairs to enter the building. There is a lift and ramps to ensure easy access to all exhibition spaces, including the 4th-floor areas we will be accessing later in the session.
• Outdoor Exploration: As the first part of the event is an outdoor activity, we will be exploring the museum’s architecture on foot. Please note that the ground may be uneven in some areas, so comfortable, sturdy footwear (such as runners or trainers) is recommended for safety and comfort.
• Indoor Photography and Collage Activity: After the outdoor activity, participants will move indoors to print their images and create photo collages. The indoor space is fully accessible, with seating and tables available for all participants. If you have any specific seating or space preferences, please let us know in advance.
• Sensory Considerations: The museum’s outdoor space and the surrounding city centre may have higher noise levels, such as traffic, buskers, and crowds, especially during the photography activity. The indoor space will be quieter, but there may still be loud sounds or music during the collage activity. If you have sensory sensitivities, we recommend bringing any personal items you may need for comfort. Sensory borrow bags and communication cards are available at the reception for your use.
• Assistive Services: Service, assistant, and emotional support animals are welcome. A hearing loop system is available at the reception, and visual aids are also provided on demand. If you have any specific needs or require additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out before the event.
• Restrooms: A disabled toilet is available upon request. Please inform the staff if you need assistance with this.
