The Ark
Dr. Marius Vollberg from the University of Zurich will present a talk titled The Promises and Pitfalls of Empathy, offering insights from psychology and neuroscience into this fascinating area. He will explore how empathy, a key factor in human cooperation, is selectively applied. As visitors can discover for themselves in the Empathy Machine exhibition, empathy is often extended more readily towards those within our own groups than towards “others.”
This in-person event is chaired by Professor Mark Cunningham (Trinity College Dublin) and offers audiences a rigorous, timely look at how emotion operates in our lives, our relationships, and our wider culture.
Hosted in collaboration with our neighbours The Ark, just a few steps from Photo Museum Ireland.
Access via Eustace Street, Temple Bar.
The talk is free, but booking is advised.
