The Rise
Photo Museum Ireland has invited Blow Photo to curate chapter six of In Our Own Image - a year-long programme surveying photographic practices in Ireland. On show in D-Light Studios, The Rise is curated by Blow Photo curators Agata Stoinska and Monika Chmielarz. The exhibition features nine young photographers whose work indicates new directions in contemporary photography.

Exhibition dates: 3 - 19 November 2022
We’re excited to showcase these photographers at this early stage of their careers, as their points of view and practices develop and evolve. Their work represents a wide spectrum of subjects and techniques and demonstrates a move away from more traditional forms of exhibition display towards more multi-dimensional, nuanced presentations.
The exhibition gives an insight into the freshness and energy of emerging photographic practices, employing new modes of storytelling to help redefine human experiences as we move beyond lockdowns to rejoin wider society.

Simultaneously, D- Light Studios will host the public presentation of In Our Own Image Youth Engagement Project facilitated by Artists Róisín White and Ali Waters, and funded by The Arts Council, NEIC Initiative and D-Light Studios. The exhibition will showcase the culmination of work from six weeks of workshops for a group of ten young people with a connection to Dublin 1. The participants were introduced to photography as a tool for storytelling and a means to address the theme of Home.
