About the Artist:
Markéta Luskačová (b.1944) is a Czech photographer known for her series of photographs taken in Slovakia, Britain, Ireland and elsewhere. Considered one of the best Czech social photographers to date, since the 1990s she has photographed in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and also Poland. She has visited Ireland on numerous occasions where she was drawn to photograph pilgrimages and street life. Luskačová has published a number of photobooks throughout her career, most recently RRB Photobooks published By The Sea in 2019. Her work is held in the National Gallery of Ireland Collection and major public collections internationally.
