Part Time Museum Assistant
Part Time, seasonal position
Hourly Rate: €13.50 per hour x 12 hours per week

Photo Museum Ireland is hiring museum assistants to facilitate the expansion of our opening hours and help build access for wider audiences. You will work reception/front of house, greeting visitors, carrying out visitor surveys, working the till and credit card machine in our museum shop and providing visitors with information about the museum and the city.
You will also work supporting the team to plan, coordinate and set up for artists talks and panel discussions which will be held in the evenings.
You will also work as a tour guide in the museum, giving tours to groups of guests on a regular basis. These tours require you to memorise and present a script.
On the job training will be provided. Necessary skills include ability to interact with the public in an engaging manner, proficiency with MAC computers, familiarity with the Gmail suite of applications. Ideally experienced in working in photography and cultural organisations or contemporary photography.
Responsibilities and tasks include:
Being the point of contact for visitors and providing information about the museum and the city.
Handling cash for membership, gift vouchers and shop transactions.
Answer the telephone and deal with all calls in a professional and helpful manner.
Ensure the bookshop and gallery area are kept neat and in order.
General administrative work
Support to facilitators of workshops, talks and events
Assisting with events and talks in the bookshop and gallery space.
Carrying out visitor surveys.
Work as a tour guide.
The successful candidate will have:
Interest in photography or the arts
Necessary skills include the ability to interact with the public in an engaging manner
The capacity to work as part of a team or to be self-directed, as necessary
Excellent interpersonal skills, computer literacy, communication, administration, writing and project management skills
Ability to work under pressure, and work flexibly and cooperatively as part of a team.
Terms of Employment:
This is a part-time seasonal position based at Photo Museum Ireland from June to October 2024.
Hours are 12 hours per week - Wednesday and Thursday from 5 - 8.30pm and Sunday from 12.30 - 5.30pm.
The hourly wages is €13.50 per hour
Start date: immediate.
This role is based in Photo Museum Ireland in Meeting House Square, Temple Bar, Dublin 2.
